“Chaosmos” is ORIGIN’s eighth album , released in celebration of the band’s 25th anniversary. The same rage, brutality, and musicality that earned ORIGIN critical and fan acclaim on “Unparalleled Universe” (2017), “Antithesis” (2008), and “Origin” (2000) return with renewed intensity, passion, and skill. ORIGIN anno 2022 – Paul Ryan (guitars/backing vocals), Mike Flores (bass/backing vocals), John Longstreth (drums), and Jason Keyser (vocals) – are undaunted by the world’s disruptions and global uncertainty, determinedly pushing their cart forward, as is reflected on “Chaosmos . ”
“Origin’s music is a fusion of order and disorder. “Our music is perceived as a meaningless collection of infinite perspectives,” guitarist/vocalist Paul Ryan postulates with cosmic import .
ORIGIN once again tapped Kansas City studio guru Rob Rebeck ( Unmerciful , Vanlade ) to produce and mix “Chaosmos .” The production team holed up for 14 days at GFM Studios in Blue Springs, Missouri, and Chapter 2 in Lenexa, Kansas. Rebeck worked on the mix for four days, while Colin Marsten of Menegroth in Queens, New York, mastered “Chaosmos” in two. The goal, as always, was to preserve and expand ORIGIN’s wild signature , and that’s exactly what Rebeck and Marsten have achieved . If “Unparalleled Universe” was the creeping madness that is Nyarlathotep, then “Chaosmos” is the crushing tentacles of Cthulhu.
