"Malleus Maleficarum" on the debut album by PESTILENCE ; a band whose contribution - spanning almost 40 years - paved the way for generations of progressive death metal artists.

The journey has its first step, and PESTILENCE set it in 1986 as a trio controlled by Patrick Mameli (now individual members; then bassist, guitarist and vocalist), Randy Meinhard (guitar) and Marco Foddis (drums). Position on the demo account «Dysentery» from 1987, place to them Martin van Drunen , who has vocal features from Mameli ; and who «like Mameli » is available on the Apshyx device . The foursome recorded a second demo «The Penance» , then made the completion of material for «Malleus Maleficarum» , which appeared a year later, in the 1988 shorts.

The album was originally released on cassette by RC Records (a sub-label of Roadracer Records , which later existed on Roadrunner Records ) and is now a metal monument of death metal mixed with thrash. The history of "Malleus Maleficarum" goes back to the beginning of the genre; the album predated "Leprosy " Death by a month, while Morbid Angel had not yet released their first album.

A must-have for all PESTILENCE fans and a great early unit for the legendary group!

Commented by Patrick Mameli : "Because we were very young and inexperienced in recording an album in the studio, we tried to find our own style, we managed it well here. A very thrashy style with definite hints of Possessed, Slayer and Infernal Majesty."
