13/Jun/2013 CODE SIGNS WITH AGONIA RECORDS

UK based avant-garde black metal outfit, CODE, has inked a worldwide record deal with Agonia Records. Band's as-yet untitled third studio album, is set to be released later this year.

Gathering together a group of UK based musicians with widely varying musical backgrounds, CODE have nearly finished recording the new material, which is scheduled to be mixed at Orgone Studios (UlverGhost, CathedralHexvessel) in London, this July. CODE describes the forthcoming release as their "most dynamic and challenging material to date"

Band's last album, 2009's "Resplendent Grotesque", was nominated for a Spellemann award (Norwegian equivalent to the American Grammy Awards) in the best metal album category.

The band commented: "Code are pleased to announce that we have recently signed a deal with Agonia Records for our next two albums, the first of which will be released later this year. We would like to thank Agonia for their huge support and enthusiasm and very much look forward to working with them to bring you our latest offerings."

CODE are:
Aort - Guitars
Andras - Guitars
LORDt - Drums
Syhr - Bass
Wacian - Vocals

CODE begun life in London in 2002 and released two full-length albums to date. The aim was simple: to deliver their own take on black metal as they wanted to hear it. Originally featuring Aort and Kvohst, the CODE ranks swelled to include Vicotnik from Ved Buens Ende and Dodheimsgard on bass and AiwarikiaR from Ulver on drums, creating an Anglo/Norwegian entity.

Band’s debut album "Nouveau Gloaming" (Spikefarm Records), a twisted, eerie augmentation of black metal was released in 2005 and rose to wide critical acclaim. Their second album, above mentioned "Resplendent Grotesque", featured Adrian Erlandsson (At the Gates) on drums was once again extremely well received and nominated for a Spellemann award for best Metal album in 2009.

With band members scattered across Europe, CODE needed to become a consolidated entity in order to move forward. Kvohst left to pursue Hexvessel and Vicotnik to continue with Dodheimsgard, leaving Aort to regroup and redefine CODE in 2013. More news on band's third album will follow shortly.
