King Parrot

Emerging through the baptism of fire of the Australian metal scene, King Parrot have pillaged their way to international recognition in a short period since 2011. The band’s notoriety began with their hell-raising live show, full of energy, ferocity and hilarity confronting and entertaining audiences, raising eyebrows and beer mugs alike. Drawing influence primarily from the thrash, grind, hardcore and punk scenes of the 80’s and 90’s, a new sound was created fusing those styles and attitudes with a fresh approach that encapsulates their aggression, humour and intensity seamlessly.

The debut album "Bite Your Head Off" was picked up by Candlelight Records in 2013 for worldwide release and the band hasn’t looked back. Five videos from their debut album have been produced including "Shit on the Liver"; a finalist in the Australian Music Video Awards and the bands take on the legendary horror film The Shining for the track "Dead End". These videos have attracted a cult following and further served as an outlet for the bands creativity.

After a solid 12 months on the road solidifying the bands presence in their homeland in 2013, King Parrot were invited to perform at SXSW in Texas in March of 2014. They coupled this with an extensive 45-date North American tour, which saw them land a management deal with Extreme Management Group in New York. They’ve since under taken a further 3 North American tours alongside Down, Orange Goblin and Origin, as well as appearing at the Housecore Horrorfest in Austin, Texas.

Drawing praise from the likes of Phil Anselmo, Max Cavalera and Chuck Billy, it’s easy to see why King Parrot is making a name for themselves. They’ve solidified themselves at the top of the heap of Australian metal bands after scoring spot on the 2015 Soundwave line-up, and their first European tour is coming in March. With a sound and live performance they can uniquely call their own, King Parrot were excited to deliver a new album in 2015 and take it to the next level.

After recording 2015's "Dead Set" in the US with Phil Anselmo (Pantera) behind the console, 2017 saw the band head back home to where it all began - recording their third full-length album with Blood Duster’s Jason PC, at the enigmatic Goatsound Studios. "Ugly Produce" reaches new heights in abrasive song-writing and serves up an odious pile of repulsive flavours you wouldn’t want to find on your local fruit and vegetable shelves. A repugnant harvest of the band’s gnarled and nasty fusion of grind, death metal, thrash, and punk rock having become more caustic than ever.

King Parrot have evolved into a fully-fledged touring and creative force barely stopping for a breath since their inception on the international metal scene in 2013. Tour after tour with the likes of Soulfly, Obituary, Down, Cattle Decapitation, Exodus, Superjoint, Devildriver, Decapitation or Voivod, and their own headlining tours in Australia, the band are now hardened road warriors. King Parrot possess a rare and deep hunger for the raucous and off the wall live shows that they've become revered for. These outings fuel the creative drive within the band to compose only the most angst-driven and vile expressions to ensure maximum involvement from audiences that lap up every frantic beat, chainsaw riff and psychotic scream. Ugly Produce is a testament to the blood, sweat and tears poured into everything King Parrot does.

King Parrot has been nominated for a Metal Hammer (UK) Golden God Award in the best new band category in 2015, and ARIA Music Awards (Australian Grammy) for best album.
