After already releasing the classic 1989 "Consuming Impulse", PESTILENCE were faced with the necessity of replacing the outstanding band - vocalist Martin van Drunen - after his departure to continue in Asphyx . A band available at a crossroads with a difficult use, drawing attention to the success, what effect "Consuming Impulse" . As is evident from the decision to use Patrick Mameli as leader, which has not only stood the test of time, but in retrospect, characteristic for the PESTILENCE sonic formula . It would be even more interesting, Mameli from playing bass - since formed by User guitarist and leader - and recruited Tony Choy (then of Cyinc ), adding to the line-up a legacy and another point of reference for the creative nature of the services. Together with Patrick Uterwijk (guitar) and Marco Foddis (drums) they recorded "Testimony of the Ancients" (1991) at the legendary Morrissound Studios (USA), where they obtained a refined version thanks to the courtesy of Scott Burns .

"Testimony of the Ancients" is considered a classic of progressive death metal from the classic class. In the first of three PESTILENCE albums , the material was not as rough, the music matured, made available earlier, technical accretions of the band of a new, accessible level. In the first release on PESTILENCE , making available and downloading for themselves a massive tour; attention to the events of the Dynamo Open Air events .

Commented by Patrick Mameli : “Seen as one of the influences of the albums of the time, it was first notified that I had unleashed the influences of other major DM services as my style was now a free interpretation of my airship, aka ZARAZA.”
