Formerly Italian, currently US based band EPHEL DUATH, known as a modern mixture of avant-garde metal and progressive rock with jazz-fusion and hardcore punk elements, has inked a worldwide deal with Agonia Records in 2012. Earlier, the band was a part of Earache Records, with whom they released their penultimate album, "Through My Dog's Eyes".

Under the leading role of talented guitarist and songwriter Davide Tiso, the machine of EPHEL DUATH was ready to send out a new musical impulse, shortly after the new contract was finalized. In January 2012 the band eneterd Sharkbyte Studios (Machine Head, Exodus, High On Fire) in Oakland, California. Erik Rutan took care of the mixing at his Mana Recording Studio (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Goatwhore, Agnostic Front) in San Petersburg, Florida and Alan Douches mastered the new material at West West Side Studios (Death, Swans, Mastodon, Converge, Baroness, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Clutch) in New York; thus "On Death And Cosmos" EP was born, featuring now ex-bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Testament).

Ignited by commitment and passion, Davide Tiso soon moved towards new and uncharted grounds. Steve has been repleaced with Bryan Beller, whose thread of communication with drummer Marco Minnemann could provide EPHEL DUATH's mastermind with a perfect rythmic section for his multilayered musical vision. With vocal duties being handeled by Karyn Ciris, the band focused on recording their seventh full-length album under the name of "Hemmed By Light, Shaped By Darkness". The release was produced once again by Erik Rutan, only this time more closely - Erik took part in the recordings and appeared as a guest on vocals and guitars. The album was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios and cover artwork has been created by visionary artists Dehn Sora and Aeron Alfrey.
